How to Use Ulike Air 10 Efficiently? Reading Kim Kardashian Is ‘Obsessed’ With for Hair Removal Maintenance 3 minutes

Kim Kardashian has let her followers in on one of her favorite skincare devices: the Ulike Laser Hair Removal Air 10 IPL Hair Removal device ($399). The 43-year-old shared her thoughts on the tool via her Instagram Story on Monday, June 17. While the video is sponsored, the Skims founder insists that she is genuinely a big fan of it.

In the video, she told her 362 million Instagram followers that she received the Ulike device as part of a holiday gift from her sister Kourtney Kardashian’s company, Poosh. “I am obsessed,” she told viewers, wearing a full face of glam with her hair down and center-parted, dressed in a white satin robe, and holding the tool in hand.

“This Ulike device has been a game changer,” she continued. “I’ve really integrated this into my routine just so that I always have smooth skin. I mean, I’ve been laser hair removing for over a decade now and it’s not like I need it all the time, but I definitely need maintenance and it really is such a hassle to drive in to know that there’s like an at-home device now that’s not painful. It has this like cooling effect. So it just feels like cool and honestly, just keeps everything super smooth and even really works on sensitive skin too. It’s really amazing.”

Kardashian then demonstrated how she uses the product, moving it up and down on her upper thigh. “It makes your hair grow in thinner and lighter and less and that it the best. I’m obsessed.” According to the brand, you may see visible results in just two weeks with consistent use, which means using it every two days. You need to shave the area you plan to treat before using the device, wear protective eyewear during treatment, and moisturize and apply SPF afterward.

If you’re new to the concept of IPL (intense pulsed light), it’s an at-home alternative to laser hair removal. Many users have found it effective for hair removal, though it typically requires more sessions compared to professional laser treatments. Beryl Hwang, lead product marketing manager for Ulike’s North America division previously told NewBeauty that the ideal regimen for the device is as follows: “During the first and second weeks, use it every other day,” Hwang says. “Weeks three through five, use it twice per week. Then, after the initial treatment phase—12 weekly treatments—treat the target area once a month, or as required, to maintain your results.

How it works? “IPL is a type of FDA-cleared light treatment that uses strong pulses of a broad-spectrum of polychromatic light to target the melanin in hair follicles to achieve permanent hair removal results,” Hwang explained. “As the pigment absorbs light, it gets heated up and destroyed. Hairs will grow back more sparsely and slower after each treatment, permanently reducing hair growth.”

One of the downsides to IPL devices is that they don’t work on all skin tones. “For people who are new to at-home hair removal, we recommend checking if your skin tone and hair color are suitable for IPL before using our Ulike device,” Hwang explained in our previous interview, providing the graphic below for context on which skin tones and hair colors the device is cleared to treat.
